I once believed the PG film was real, buy after digging around it's backstory I came to the conclusion that it was 100% faked. Way too many red flags.

In fact, here’s a piece I wrote about it a few years back. I caught a lot of hate for it from diehards:

Hoaxed? Well you could knock me over with a feather.

Greg, whom I know and worked with, undertook a brilliant piece of investigative reporting in his own time and on his own dime. It has always been a frustration that his work—explosively and thoroughly debunking Patterson's film—has had so little recognition. It felt like no-one, particularly TV and film execs and the mainstream media wanted to know the truth. It's great that this is finally getting the exposure it needs. Greg even dug up the receipt for the gorilla suit Patterson hired. I hope that made it into the film.

Wouldnt it be alot more easy to debunk the PG film if someone managed to replicate the film with similar technology. If someone showed "this is how its done" like James Randi did with spoon bending?

It's been done. Of course it can never look EXACTLY the same so nobody believes it. Anyway the hard evidence that it was faked has always been more compelling (IMHO).

Well that’s sad! There is something wonderful about hoping it was true. Even tho I think I knew it wasn’t?

believers are just going to say it's AI, regardless of how long the video is, and how consistent the details are

Martin Belderson's avatar

Except that the evidence revealing this was published long before AI was a thing.

Scott Emerson's avatar

Oh was it published a while ago? The post makes it seem like this doc is the first time it is going to be published

The newly discovered footage, and the confessions, are new to the world thanks to this documentary. The film had already been (essentially) proven to be a hoax by a raft of other evidence, and that goes back decades. More: https://skeptoid.com/episodes/375

I still have my childhood copy of Sasquatch by Hunter & Dahindren (1973.) It remains an interesting peek at the Bigfoot hunters of that era. Bigfoot remains my favorite cryptid (the undiscovered-ape Bigfoot, not the UFO/dimension-slipping Bigfoot.) Thanks, Brian, for the new details.

There's ANOTHER Bigfoot? UFO/dimension-slipping? So there's still hope? Do tell!

Kate Rauner's avatar

Since that's not "my" Bigfoot, I defer to Google's AI search: The

paranormal Bigfoot theory suggests Sasquatch is not just a biological creature, but a supernatural or inter-dimensional being capable of telepathy, invisibility (cloaking), and appearing/disappearing via portals. Unlike the "flesh-and-blood" theory, this viewpoint explores psychic encounters, associations with UFOs/orbs.
