Alien Echoes: Report from the Front Lines
I am off on the second flyaway trip shooting "Alien Echoes"
Today’s post gives you a sneak peak at the production of Alien Echoes, the upcoming feature documentary I’m exec producing for my employer Skeptoid Media.
As of today, I’m off on the second flyaway trip doing production. The first was slipped into the Skeptoid Adventure “Sailing the Skeptical Seas” on the island of Menorca, where archaeologist Flint Dibble showed us how we would indeed be able to tell if a Silurian civilization had ever existed on Earth. We didn’t have a film crew with us, just our social media video capture gear; so that scene will make up part of the 10% of the movie not shot on Netflix-compliant gear — and that’s totally OK. This week we have our full crew, which is a great relief.
This week we’re at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, CA. Over three days we’re interviewing five astronomers:
This Thursday (July 23) I’m hosting a Zoom to tell you all how it went, what zany adventures we had (guaranteed there will be some), and do Q&A. The Zoom is open to donors who have supported the project at $500 or more, and if you are so inclined, you can join them here. And I do hope you are so inclined, as currently we have almost no budget for post-production! Feel free to step up bigly and receive accolades.
Alien Echoes will be off to the distributor January 1 2027, and over the next several weeks it will appear on various streaming services. You can also get on my email list where I’ll send all those updates without donating.
So that’s all I’ve got time for today — these production weeks are insanely busy. And speaking of which, I always hear from people asking if they can come meet us or watch or buy us a beer, and I’m sorry but there is no time for that this time. The entire day is taken up with production, and as soon as we get back to the hotel it’s hours of digital media transfer, production meetings, and hopefully catching a few hours of shuteye before it all starts up again.
And if you have no idea what this movie is about, watch the teaser video!
I will catch up with you very soon.
