First of all - apologies for this being late. I had accidentally set it to go out at 7 PM instead of 7 AM, and only just now caught the error.
Scientific American has just published a rather philosophical opinion piece titled “It’s Time to Hear from Social Scientists about UFOs”. It urges the case that although we probably don’t need to worry about alien spaceships coming down from the skies, there are still valid sociological reasons to continue studying UFOs at an official level. As you have by now come to expect from me, I disagree.
In the mind of this writer — it is not especially useful to study UFOs. It is definitely not useful for government or the military to worry about whether alien spaceships constitute a threat to national security. No evidence that alien spaceships visit the Earth has ever been found; numerous government commissions have studied this question numerous times and every one of them has concluded that UFOs do not present a threat to national security; and there are quite a few very good laws of physics telling us that it’s essentially impossible for alien spaceships to come here. They are no more an actual threat than Godzilla.
