Texas turns up the heat on its self-immolation
See the almost unbelievable slew of anti-vaccine laws Texas is currently trying to pass.
“Medical freedom” is their rallying cry, as Texas parents watch their children die from measles — for them, a victory. They triumphantly refused to bend the knee to those elitist doctors.
According to a 2024 report from the CDC:
Among children born during 1994–2023, routine childhood vaccinations will have prevented approximately 508 million cases of illness, 32 million hospitalizations, and 1,129,000 deaths, resulting in direct savings of $540 billion and societal savings of $2.7 trillion.
Yet 93,000 Texans applied for exemptions last year alone, a number that’s been rising steeply every year. The inevitable result is the measles epidemic they are experiencing currently, and there will be more.
Now that a second child has died from vaccine-preventable measles in Texas, here is the action the state is taking: They have 31 anti-vaccine bills currently in legislation.
They are:
HB 383 - Employers can't require employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or take adverse action or the employee can file a complaint with TWC.
HB 468 - Children can only be required to have specific vaccines, and DSHS can't require additional ones. School districts with websites must link to the DSHS web page with information about how to obtain an exemption. Decision making authority about vaccine requirements is transferred from DSHS to the Legislature.
