CivicScience, a polling company that grew out of a Carnegie Mellon University incubator project in 2008, released the results of a nationwide (US) poll asking people about their belief in the paranormal and supernatural. Alarmingly (to me, anyway) fully ⅔ of people harbor some such belief. However, religious beliefs were not directly included; so if we were to add that, it would have been another box to check and that ⅔ probably would have gone up. But one interesting thing they did was to break down paranormal beliefs by religious belief.
Which do you think was the larger group:
People whose religion is very important to them, and who believe there are things science can’t explain; or
People who do not have important religious beliefs, and who believe there are not things science can’t explain?
