Upcoming events you don't want to miss
I've got three awesome getaways coming up that I need you to join me for.
It is shaping up to be a busy year — with the movie production, the weekly show and now all this — perhaps my busiest yet. And that’s saying something. There is no end of pseudoscience and pseudohistory surrounding us every day, all of which needs to be explored and corrected; so I don’t expect my schedule to lighten up any time soon!
So here’s what’s coming up, in order of soonest:
June: CSICon 2026!
Instead of its usual Las Vegas venue, the 50th Anniversary(!) CSICon — the annual conference of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry — will be in Buffalo, NY this year, where their headquarters is located (don’t miss the tour of their headquarters the day before the conference, by the way). If you are one of the people to whom I said “Oh, nobody’s going to go if they move it to Buffalo,” you may rejoice that I have already been proven to be profoundly in error: registration is off the charts! Please come, it’s next month: June 11-14.
The following day, I will be co-hosting a trip to Niagara Falls where we’ll have a perilous ride under the falls aboard the Maid of the Mist boat. Much fun is in store for you.
Unfortunately they were not able to get any other fun and entertaining people, so they had to find an extraneous employee, their own Chief Investigator Kenny Biddle. I will make sure he is properly medicated, though, so I can guarantee good times for all.
December: New Orleans Escapade!
The very next Skeptoid Adventure is one that’s easy and accessible, and more affordable than most.
My longtime skeptical friend Chris Perley will be our local expert and my co-host. He’s been hosting groups and tours there for years, and knows all the secret places. We’re looking to find the best of everything the town has to offer: history, food, ghosts & swamp monsters, jazz (of course)… this will be your best chance to see the area if you never have.
The New Orleans Escapade is December 4-6, 2026. Registration opens very soon if it’s not already; you can get on the Adventures mailing list here.
December: Mysteries of the Maya!
Launching immediately upon the conclusion of the New Orleans Escapade is the very next Skeptoid Adventure which will take us back to ancient Mesoamerica. Our guide and my co-host will be Nahuatl archaeologist and ethnohistorian Kurly Tlapoyawa. He will teach you as much Nahuatl — the language family spoken in the Aztec Empire and still today by over a million people — as you can handle.
We’ll avoid all the crowded touristy spots we can, and have Kurly’s expert guidance at sites on Cozumel, Roatán, and Harvest Caye — all sites rich with both real history and genuine nonsense Ancient Aliens level pseudohistory. Luckily, you’ll be with a Skeptoid group!
The trip is December 6-13, leaving from and returning to New Orleans, Louisiana. Registration is now open!
Every past Skeptoid Adventurer has reported that the best part of the experience was meeting and spending time with a big group of their new best friends, all like-minded skeptics and fans of science. Certainly this has been my own experience as well. I’ve been podcasting to (literally) hundreds of thousands of people for almost 20 years, yet each time I meet a listener in person is a wonderful new surprise.
Anyway, that’s my schedule for the coming year. The rest of the time I’ll be neck-deep in production on Alien Echoes (and you can sign up for emails about that movie at that link).
I hope to meet more of you along the way!
