Thanks for reading my newsletter that seeks to separate reality from bullshit in pop culture. Obviously, there is more than enough material out there for me to never go out of business doing this; but I have to actually be in business to begin with! That means that some of you need to become paid subscribers! Throw me a bone! Help me continue to illuminate those darkest corners of the Internet.
Last week, author & journalist Michael Shellenberger posted a flagrantly clickbait, pay-to-see-the-good-stuff blog post claiming that a new UFO “whistleblower” has stated that the government’s actual, totally real, secret, no-really-this-one’s-real-this-time, UFO program for dissecting alien spacecraft is called Immaculate Constellation.
(“Whistleblower” is in quotes because the person is one of the SMURFs — a small group of UFO true believers that former AARO head Sean Kirkpatrick called religious fanatics trying to influence Congress — and is not, by any reasonable definition, a “whistleblower”.)
The Pentagon immediately responded to call Shellenberger a liar — which, at least in this case, he unequivocally is: “The Department of Defense has no record, present or historical, of any type of [classified program] called ‘IMMACULATE CONSTELLATION’.”
Kirkpatrick also added “There’s no such thing. I had access to all of the unacknowledged [classified programs] and reviewed them with the [classified programs] director.”
Shellenberger is an interesting character. The science positions he advocates are split between those that agree with the consensus view (supporting GMOs and nuclear power) and those that defy it (promoting the debunked “lab leak” conjecture, fracking to increase fossil fuel burning, downplaying the significance of global warming, opposing gender affirming care). He is an avid member of the Intellectual Dark Web, and, as I wrote before, embracing the “aliens actively visit the Earth” narrative has (bizarrely) become part of the IDW platform.
And so it should be no surprise that Shellenberger’s newest splash in the news is to toot that horn. He says:
There is, however, a growing body of evidence that the government is not being transparent about what it knows about UAPs…
No, there is zero evidence. Aliens do not visit the Earth. It’s impossible by any practical application of the laws of physics, and there’s no evidence that it’s ever happened. NONE. (And no, magical wormholes and space warps are not anything more than science fiction, completely outside the bounds of real physics.) The government knows nothing about alien visitation because it doesn’t happen; there is nothing for them to suppress. (There are clicks for you to gain, though, Michael!)
In the famous July 2023 “whistleblower” hearing, former aerial photo analyst David Grusch — a longtime personal friend of UFO community leader Lue Elizondo — told Congress members that he’d heard from “people” (Elizondo) that some of the old UFO myths, like Roswell, were true; and that he’d also heard the US has alien spaceships in storage. He refused all requests by AARO to elaborate in secure session. The UFOlogists celebrated this as a great win.
(Keep in mind Elizondo thinks UFOs are angels, like literal Christian angels.)
The same Congressional UFO caucus — which is like three people — has said they plan to hold another UFO hearing after the November 6, 2024 election. The UFO community’s presumption is that Shellenberger’s source, who will undoubtedly be yet another of the SMURFs or a longtime friend or associate of theirs, will testify to say that they heard from “someone” that the Pentagon’s alien spacecraft analysis program is called Immaculate Constellation. The UFOlogists will celebrate it as a great win.
Since Shellenberger’s blog, a number of prominent UFO personalities have come forward to say they always knew this too. They include yoga and martial arts instructor Jeremy Corbell, who says he’s involved with it too:
It is my duty to confirm and verify this to you…
The program/operation name is correct (though it MAY have been altered or updated in recent times).
That IMMACULATE CONSTELLATION is tasked to: DETECT, QUARANTINE and TRANSFER UAP.
It deals with Non-Human Intelligence (NHI) craft and ALSO documents any foreign progress based on performance capabilities derived from reverse-engineered propulsion systems from UAP/UFO craft.
Because, of course, it would fall to the yoga community to confirm to the American population what the US is doing with the aliens.
So on the one hand we have the yoga instructors, angel worshipers, and vaccine deniers telling us the US has dealings with alien spacecraft; and the Pentagon (who actually would have those dealings if they were a thing) telling us it’s a load of crap.
Which it has been for 75 years. And continues to be.
Please. Intelligent people: do not waste your time with this.
The DOD gets very nasty with persons who violate SAP non-disclosure agreements. The fact that none of these "whistleblowers" is in prison is another indication that they are blowing smoke. As for "Immaculate Constellation," it sounds cute, but SAP code words consist of two nouns. And why would it be a DOD program? It could just as easily be under either Homeland Security or the Director of National Intelligence.
