Biggest mistake one can make is to assume that because one side is lying then the other must be telling the truth

Some interesting stuff coming up on my Substack feed. Not sure where this Notes From The Circus sits but has some provocative thoughts:

When leftist, misinformation causes people's deaths, then I'll turn some attention to it.

"We" obviously don't know that populist, right stuff is just b*******, because "we" voted for them. Twice.

Brian, you might find this amusing. In his White House appearance, it seems Musk gave yet another example of why he's the walking definition of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

"Musk got the 150yr old Social Security recipients figure from COBOL's default date of 1875"

The definitive comments in this thread are:

"The Gregorian calendar has a reference point that assigns 20 May 1875 to the calendar day that the "Convention du Mètre" was signed in Paris."

and

"My understanding is that date is a used as a calendar reference date in the ISO which means that under that standard this date is the specific date defining reference for this calendar, like a point in time we can agree on to line up to other calendar systems."

In other words, it's likely to be a default date that is assigned when a birthdate is incorrectly entered or unknown.

Good work, Metabunk.

I love this. And yes, Metabunk nearly *always* does good work.

Elon lets Trump sit at the desk so he thinks he’s in charge.

I personally think that the leftist bullshit is being created because some leftists have noticed how effective the rights bullshit has been as of late. Maybe it's an attempt to fight fire with fire.......or in this case, fight faker with faker. More and more, as time goes on, I've had the Stealers Wheel song, "Stuck in the Middle With You," playing as a earworm in my head. Oh, well, at least I have a bonus of background score playing while perusing the social media.

Dude, the leftist populist arguments have been in play forever. It's the same as with the Right. The extremist fringe trying to overtake the centrist parts of the Party.

The whole Racist, Bigot, Homophobe, Misogynist, Billionaire, Greedy Boomer, Christian Nationalist, talking points literally are the core of the progressive Lefts movement, just like it's the Far Rights core.

The both lack viable ideas, so the employ emotional arguments instead.

You are correct that those people are the core minority of MAGA, and that their beliefs is a core criticism by the Progressive Left. But that hardly puts the two on equal footing. Espousing and criticizing the basest possible beliefs are not equivalently evil. And I have started most of the spoken sentences in my life with "Dude..."

Leftist bullshit actually contributed quite a bit to getting Trump reelected.

During his first term, leftists habitually had online freakouts to *every* dumb thing Trump said or did. Trump says a lot of dumb things, and people learned to tune out the leftist freakouts over every utterance... and to keep tuning them out when they were actually about something important.

Classic "boy who cried wolf" stuff.

Turns out they weren't crying wolf at all. It's the right-wing voters are the ones who chose consciously to put partisanship before their nation and to look the other way.

Expand full comment

Oh. So he is a Nazi, fascist, literally Hitler, Putin puppet? It's not "partisanship before their nation", it's most of the nation is tired and exhausted of your bullshit emotional meltdowns.

Expand full comment

Hmm, you know that the moment you use the those words, you lose the argument. Putting words in other people's mouths shows how weak your position is. Like I said, you've put partisanship before your nation. Shame on you.

But your bullshit is fine as long as you make a piss poor attempt at calling out the far left. Got it. 👍🏻

"Turns out they weren't crying wolf at all."means something completely nebulous and undefinable out of convenience? Wtf are you saying?

Nicely analyzed, Brian, esp. with the Snopes report. However, I'm not sure the bearded commentator said that the child's words were "plain as day." (At least without me going back to listen to the video again). That said, Musk's White House presentation was certainly...odd. And the view of Trump's face throughout is...odd. Meanwhile, one major problem with the TRUSK (as i call it) press conference is that Elon can say whatever he likes because he's not an elected official and doesn't have to worry about an electorate on his back. So when he says they "couldn't ask for a stronger mandate from the public" he's basically spewing nonsense with no responsibility.

Thank you for the correction. His exact words were "clear as day" not "plain as day".

Thanks...it seems the two phrases are close enough to mean practically the same thing.
